About us

The concept of Explore began in 2011 in the county of Dâmbovița as a private initiative of a small group of specialists in German studies, whose purpose was to promote the German language and culture among children and youngsters in Romania (especially in the rural areas). We strongly believe that the German language represents a clear advantage for a safer financial future and for a greater cultural horizon. To this end we are organizing German courses and other activities in unconventional places or within language camps so that all new knowledge is acquired in an enjoyable way. We attach great importance to communication with German native speakers, games and visualization. Additionally, we aim at consolidating essential civic principles and social responsibility of the little ones by conducting various social and educational initiatives. Since the official incorporation of our association in April 2017 we have organized 3 language trips and one summer camp (7 days long). The project however, dates back to 2010 and up to 2017 more than 15 trips and 8 intensive summer courses with an average span of 10 days were organized.

We focus on children and teenagers aged between 9 and 17 years old, who share the interest of learning German, coming from various economic and social backgrounds. Almost half of our current participants in the program confront themselves with financial difficulties, as they live in the rural areas of the county of Dâmboviţa, where there are limited economic and educational possibilities. Just as important to us are also those children, whose parents can easily afford the costs of our programs, as the latter category faces other invisible, yet very dangerous enemies: anxiety, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Joining these two worlds together grants children besides the linguistic advantage an invaluable gain: beautiful memories and lasting friendships, beyond social and financial barriers. Last but not least, is confers the feeling that German is more than just a subject in one’s schedule; it is a special form of communicating with one another.
